Houston Window Experts Review of ProVia Endure High Quality Vinyl Replacement Windows?
The ProVia Company, located in Sugarcreek, OH, manufactures an array of building materials at locations around the Midwest and south. Their window and door products are superior to other products in a variety of ways. Houston Window Experts sells and installs their exterior door line. We do not carry their window line currently so this is an unbiased, non-promotional, honest review of the Endure line.
For this video product review, Jeff ordered an incredibly unique specification to demonstrate the quality of the build and superior feature set available from this manufacturer. This sample is from the Endure line and is a basic double hung Vinyl window frame with some customized features. Homeowners who have relocated from the East Coast Region may be familiar with wood framed windows with an elevated level of detail and quality that you just can’t find in average, run-of-the-mill, typical Vinyl Replacement Windows.
Let’s start out with the quality of the vinyl itself. Compared to many other manufacturers of vinyl windows, ProVia stands out in several ways. The vinyl they use is extremely high-grade vinyl with a high titanium dioxide (TiO2) content. This is the ingredient in vinyl which extends the life and adds superior resistance to cracking, flaking and color fades over time. Your Provia windows will look great for decades! Regarding colors, there are over forty colors (interior and exterior combined)!
Appearance: ProVia windows are designed to look more like wood windows. The frame profiles, inside routed molding, and caulked appearance along with the exceptionally clean 45-degree frame corners void of any of the usual scaring and heavy seams. ProVia obtains this clean corner joint by folding over and joining the vinyl with two finished faces. Not simply butt-joined as seen in lower quality vinyl windows.
Screens: Window screens are important for keeping insects out but can sometimes be a pain to remove for window cleaning. ProVia screens are easy to remove and are located in a track which allows the half screen to slide up and down on a double-hung window. Also available full-length for all window styles (except picture windows). Instead of the traditional roll formed aluminum frames, ProVia uses extruded aluminum increasing strength. They include a lift rail for sliding frames and include weather stripping for additional insect security.
Sloped Sill: The exterior sloped sill allows for improved drainage of rainwater and melting snow. Also adds to the appearance of wood windows and prevents excessive dust and pollen buildup.
Internal Jam Covering: On many of the inferior quality vinyl and aluminum windows, the lift assist mechanism is exposed. ProVia improves the appearance with a jam cover hiding all the internals from site.
Window Locks: The sample in the video shows a double-hung window with dual locks. Available in 8 colors to compliment your interior decor, these locks are secured with screws to an internal composite bar for increased security. In addition, the locks double as the tilting window sash release!
Vent Latches: Commonly referred to as “security latches”, they should be safely used for venting only. Increase air flow and let in fresh air in allowing your home to breathe. These are made of plastic material so should not be trusted as a security measure against break-ins.
Grid Options: ProVia offers internal grids, external grids, and the option of no grids. Style guaranteed to match your home’s style and correct build era. Internal grids offer easy to clean surfaces while external grids, also referred to as simulated divided light (SDL) replicate the look of and the maintenance of real divided light wood windows.
Energy Efficiency: In the sample double-hung window, the top sash is clear glass double glazed window. There are no low-e coatings on this sash. The bottom sash is a triple paned unit with all the coatings available making this sash Energy Star 2024 compliant. As demonstrated with the use of a spectrometer, the energy efficiency is clear.
What Styles are Available with Provia Endure Replacement Windows?
Besides the double-hung replacement windows shown in the video, ProVia has a complete selection of window style:
- Single Hung -vertically oriented with upper sash fixed and the lower sash operates.
- Double Hung -also vertically oriented with both sashes operations.
- Slider -Horizontally oriented and can have one or more sliding sashes.
- Casement -Horizontally oriented with an opening sash operated by a crank.
- Picture -One piece, non-operation window.
- Geometric Shapes -Round, Octagonal (or other shaped) non-operational window.
- Awning and Hopper -This style is similar to casement windows but will swing open from the top hinge (awning) of from the bottom hinge (hopper).
- Garden Windows -Dimensional windows typically installed in kitchens and/or bathrooms allowing improved panoramic views and glass shelving for growing plants.
- Bay/Bow Windows -This style is a bump out section typically framed and built-in for dens, living and family rooms offering achitectural detail and often, additional window seating.
